I have a small illustration in the New Yorker this week for an article about a new shop called Treasure and Bond, which donates all its profits to children’s charities.
(My mom texted me “Literally just saw YOU in the New Yorker!” I guess the girl in the illustration DOES look a little like me… ok a lot!)
Thank you AD Jordan Awan!

Lots of people in New York can only buy very small trees as big ones won’t fit in our apartments or up the stairs.

Quite often I agonize over minor details for hours. I enjoy taking my time on every single line, though.

Soooo beautiful! I wish I had your patience, Frederik!

Ok, here’s the deal: SuperMutant Magic Academy just gained its 1000th follower! Nice. Thank you for reading. To celebrate, I’ll send a present to a randomly-chosen person who reblogs this comic. I’ll post the winner on Friday.

ahhhhhhhhh!!!

It’s awesome when…

greaterthanorequalto:

…people take my artwork, change it, and post it as their own.

Check it out here, and here. Also Katie Daisy’s work here.

What do I do in this situation?

This situation is especially annoying as this person who stole is not necessarily making any money, but the nature of Tumblr is that it will get reblogged thousands of times so that eventually the original illustration might not even be remembered. This is my main problem with Tumblr and a reason I really don’t like it a lot of the time - you can tag your own posts as much as you want and link back to your own site but anyone can take that off or just swipe your image from your website and post it all around with no credit whatsoever, so that it could be seen my thousands of people, none of them knowing the work was done by a real person who could be getting credit. This happens to me all the time.

The only real solution I can find to this problem is to put a watermark on any image you publish on the internet, but even that can be taken off if you don’t put it over the entire image. UGH.

In the last few weeks I got a chance to do two different illustrations for The New Yorker, both about awesome blonde women.

The first was for the upcoming movie “My Week With Marilyn,” starring Michelle Williams. I decided to depict Marilyn still being her glamorous self in a headscarf and cool cat-eye shades (that I want) while dodging the paparazzi in London.

The second piece, which is in this week’s issue, features Tippi Hedren, another wonderful 60s blonde, from Hitchcock’s “The Birds.” This job was super quick - got the initial e-mail Thursday night, final due Friday morning - so exciting and fun!

Film Forum is showing several films featuring Bernard Hermann’s scores from October 21st to November 3rd, including “Vertigo,” “Psycho,” and “The Birds.” I’m definitely going to go see “Psycho” on the big screen, it’s my favorite.

Thank you to AD Jordan Awan!
